# Frigidaire dishwashers

### Three trims, one machine

Across 36 dishwashers the mechanical differences are smaller than the badges suggest: the same wash system, the same pump family, a stainless tub and better insulation higher up the range, and a third rack on the top trims. For a repair that is good news — parts are shared widely and available quickly — and it means the honest answer to ‘is the Gallery machine more reliable’ is that it is quieter, not that it is built differently where it matters.

### The maintenance that actually changes the outcome

Two habits prevent most of what we are called out for. Rinse the filter every few weeks and keep rinse aid topped up. The first prevents the blocked-sump call that is our commonest dishwasher visit, and the second changes drying performance more than any setting on the panel. Neither is a service we sell; both are worth more than most of what is sold as dishwasher maintenance.

Not draining, not cleaning, not drying, leaking — four complaints, one machine

The filter and the spray arms explain more calls than any board ever does

The maintenance that actually changes the outcome

Two habits prevent most of what we are called out for. Rinse the filter every few weeks and keep rinse aid topped up. The first prevents the blocked-sump call that is our commonest dishwasher visit, and the second changes drying performance more than any setting on the panel. ### There is standing water in the bottom after every cycle.

Start with the filter, and we mean that literally — on these machines a blocked filter or a clogged sump is the most common cause by a distance, and it is something you can look at in a minute. Beyond that it is the drain hose, the air gap under the sink, the disposal connection or the pump. Tell us whether the water drains slowly or not at all; that difference points at different halves of the list.

### Everything comes out with grit on it.

Usually water not reaching the dishes rather than water not being hot enough. Spray arms block, the upper arm's feed can be interrupted by a tall item, and a filter left unwashed for a year eventually recirculates what it caught. We check the arms, the filter and the inlet before anyone talks about a heater or a board.

### Nothing dries, even on the heavy cycle.

Frigidaire's plainer machines dry by holding heat rather than by blowing air, so plastics come out damp by design and that is not a problem. Where nothing at all dries, we look at the heating element, the vent flap and whether rinse aid is being dispensed — that last one changes drying more than owners expect.
