### The August call we would rather not take

Almost everything that fails here in the middle of summer had been announcing itself since spring, quietly, on a machine nobody was watching. A maintenance visit on this badge is mostly cold-side work — condenser coils cleared, the drain path proved, door seals measured rather than looked at — because refrigeration is where the catalog's weight is and where a South Florida garage does the most damage. The laundry half is shorter and blunter: the vent run, and whether the machine is standing level on a tiled floor.

### How often does a condominium kitchen actually need this?

Once a year for the refrigeration, and the drier the location the longer it can wait. A cabinet in an air-conditioned kitchen is a different machine from the same cabinet in a garage at ninety-five degrees, and the second one sets the schedule.
