# Frigidaire oven not heating repair

### An oven that is cold and one that is nearly right are two jobs

Cold is the simpler of the two. On an electric range the bake element usually shows its own failure — a blister, a split, a bright scar where it burned through — and where it looks perfect the meter settles it in a minute. Nearly right is the harder call and it belongs to the sensor rather than the element. On this platform the same oven cavity sits under all three trim levels, so the machine in front of us behaves the same whether the door says Frigidaire, Gallery or Professional.

What this involves

Cold and 'not hot enough' are two different diagnoses

On gas, a weak igniter gives slow heat rather than no heat — the classic misdiagnosis

The sensor is measured, not guessed at, before a control is quoted

Establish cold or merely cool

A thermometer in the cavity through a preheat. The number decides which half of the list we are on.

Test the elements and their relays

Both bake and broil, because a cavity heating on one element only reaches temperature slowly and looks like a calibration problem.

Measure the igniter current on gas

The measurement that catches the weak igniter. A glowing igniter is not a working one.

Read the temperature sensor

Resistance against the table for that model. A sensor reading high keeps the cavity cool and blames nothing.

Recheck with a calibrated thermometer

Through a full preheat and a hold, so the repair is proved at temperature.

### The broiler works but the oven does not. What does that mean?

That the control and the supply are both fine, because the broil element is being powered normally. It points hard at the bake element or its connection, and it takes a whole class of expensive possibilities off the table.

### Is it worth replacing an element on a fifteen-year-old range?

Usually yes on this badge, because the element is stocked and the rest of the range is mechanically simple. We would rather talk you out of it only where the cavity or the door has gone as well.
