### The one repair here we sometimes advise against

A rumble that rises with the spin and turns into grinding is the rear bearing, and on a front-loader that is the honest conversation on this badge. The bearing lives in the outer tub, and on many of these machines the tub is sealed — so the repair is the tub, the drum and the seal together, against a machine that is often twelve years old and was inexpensive when it was new. We measure it, price it, and say plainly when the arithmetic does not work. The suspension is the opposite: cheap, and worth doing early.

Confirm it is the bearing

Drum play at the rim, noise that tracks spin speed, and rust streaks under the tub.

Some designs allow a bearing change; others sell a sealed tub assembly. This single fact decides the price.

Inspect the seal and the shaft

A seal that has been leaking has already scored the shaft, and fitting a bearing to a scored shaft buys months.

Price both roads honestly

The repair against a comparable new machine, including what a replacement's delivery and install cost in a condominium.

Do the job properly or not at all

Where it goes ahead: new seal, correct preload, and a full spin test before we leave.

### Is a bearing job ever worth doing on one of these?

Sometimes — on a newer machine, or a stacked laundry center where replacing the appliance means reworking a closet. On a twelve-year-old front-loader it usually is not, and we would rather tell you that at the diagnostic than after ordering parts.

### Can I make it last a bit longer by washing smaller loads?

It buys time rather than fixing anything. Lighter loads reduce the load on the bearing and the noise with it, but the water that got past the seal is already in there.
