# Frigidaire wine cooler door and seal service

### Condensation on the inside of the glass is a seal, not a failure

Glass doors in this climate show everything. When warm humid air is getting past the gasket, it condenses on the coldest surface it can reach and the owner sees fog on the inside of the pane and assumes the cooling has failed. Almost always it is the door: a gasket that has hardened, a hinge that has let the door drop a few millimeters on one side, or a cabinet that was never quite level so the door no longer swings shut under its own weight. All three are measured the same way and fixed cheaply.

What this involves

Condensation, a sagging door and a seal that has hardened

A full rack changes the geometry of a small door more than people expect

Cheap to correct and expensive to ignore: the compressor pays for a leaking door

Test the seal all round

The paper test at several points, and a look at the corner where these always go first.

Check the hinge and the door swing

A door that has dropped a few millimeters seals at the top and not at the bottom.

Look at how the cabinet is loaded

A rack pushed forward holds the door open by a fraction, which is enough.

Replace the gasket where it has hardened

Model-specific and worth doing properly; a universal strip on a glass door does not hold.

Recheck temperature after it settles

The cabinet is left to stabilize and measured again before the visit ends.

### There is fog between the panes rather than on the surface. Same job?

No, and it is worth knowing the difference before booking. Moisture sealed between the panes means the glazing unit itself has failed, which is a door replacement rather than a gasket.

### The door does not stay shut unless I push it. Is that the hinge?

Usually the level first and the hinge second. These cabinets rely on being slightly tipped back so the door falls closed, and a floor that slopes toward the room defeats a perfectly good hinge.
