The vent is the appliance
More than on any other machine in the house, a dryer's performance is decided by something that is not part of the dryer. A duct with three bends and twenty feet of run, or a shared building riser, will make a healthy machine look tired, and the symptom — long cycles, hot laundry room, clothes still damp — is exactly what a failing element looks like from the outside. We measure rather than guess, and we will tell you when the answer is a duct rather than a part.
Gas and electric are different visits
An electric dryer's heating side is an element and two protective devices; a gas dryer's is an igniter, a valve with coils and a flame sensor, plus a gas connection that has to be left right. The vent run in a South Florida building is often long, sometimes shared and rarely cleaned, and a dryer that cannot push moist air out simply recycles it.
