Symptom
Frigidaire washer leaking
Where the water appears decides the repair, so the first job is watching rather than mopping. Front of a front-loader is the door boot or the glass; behind the machine is a hose or the inlet valve; water that appears only during the drain is the pump, a clamp, or a standpipe that cannot take the flow. And in this climate the door boot is the one we find most.

Three ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
The door boot or its seal
Water at the front, usually during the wash. The fold at the bottom of the boot holds water and lint and eventually splits.

A hose or the inlet valve
Water behind the machine. Old rubber fill hoses are the ones worth replacing on sight, whether or not they are today's leak.
Washer water inlet valve repair from $129 -
The pump, a clamp, or the building drain
Water only during drain. In an apartment, a standpipe that surcharges puts it on the floor with the machine working perfectly.

In five minutes
Before you call anybody
None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.
-
01
Watch one cycle with paper down
The timing of the first drop is the diagnosis.
-
02
Run a hand round the boot fold
Grit, lint and a split are found by feel before they are found by eye.
-
03
Look at the age of the fill hoses
Rubber hoses over five years old are worth replacing regardless.
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
A shortcut
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem before anybody opens anything, which is why it is worth photographing before it clears.
If there is no code at all

About Frigidaire washer leaking
What to do in the next ten minutes
Dry the floor, lay paper or a towel where you can see it, and run a rinse-and-spin while you watch. Note when the water arrives. If it is coming from the back, close both taps behind the machine now — a supply hose that has started to weep is the one leak on this page that can become a very expensive night.
The door boot, and why it is a South Florida part
A front-loader's boot is a rubber bellows that spends its life wet. In a dry climate it dries out between washes; in a laundry closet in Miami it does not, and the fold at the bottom stays damp permanently. That is why boots here grow mold, smell, and eventually split at the fold rather than perishing evenly — and why the habit of leaving the door ajar between washes is worth more than any cleaning product.
The one to treat as urgent
A supply hose under mains pressure is the only part of a washing machine that can empty a water main into your apartment. They fail from the inside and give very little warning, and a burst one in a condominium is a claim against several units rather than a repair. If your hoses are original and the machine is over five years old, change them — it is a twenty-dollar part and the cheapest insurance in the building.

Questions about Frigidaire washer leaking
It only leaks on some cycles.
Usually a level thing: cycles that fill higher find a split the others do not reach. Note which cycle and tell us.
There is water under the machine but the floor around it is dry.
That points at the pump or the sump rather than the door or the hoses, and it is worth getting to before the cabinet base takes it.
